Alejandrina Lopez
Intern
Alejandrina (she/her) was born and raised in San Diego, California. Her first and home language is Spanish, but after entering elementary school she lost part of cultural identity as she felt pressured to learn and only speak English in the classroom. After traveling to Mexico during the summers, she recognized the importance of her heritage language in order to form deeper relationships with her family.
By embracing and practicing her native language she was able to share many meaningful conversations and memories with her late grandparents. Today, she is a first generation college graduate from UCLA with a B.S. in Biology. Currently she is completing the Speech Language Preparation Program at California State University, San Marcos with hopes of continuing to graduate school to become a Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist.
