Vero Benavides has spent her career exploring and advocating at the intersection of identity, language, and learning.
A Harvard-educated doctora of education, Dr. Benavides didn’t grow up speaking Spanish — the only language that her grandparents spoke. Losing, recovering, and passing on her heritage language to her children inspired her to launch Bilingual Generation.

“This was such a transformative experience for me personally, as a bilingual and second-generation American, and for my family. Thank you for helping us figure out what strategy will work for us and for infusing joy back into this learning and growing process.”
Annie, Parent
“I have noticed that since I have begun Bilingual Generation, the anxiety my students seem to express re: language/bilingualism has decreased. This has allowed us to have more authentic and meaningful conversations, lessons, and engagement more generally in the heritage language.”
Andrew, Teacher
“For the first time in 15 years, I do feel more equipped to support students with connecting with their language and culture. I love the curriculum and materials. I also like how this group was run and how it can serve as a model to meet with other groups.”
Christina, Teacher
